PALM PSYCHOTHERAPY

The information that you provide to you Palm Psychotherapy is used to assess your individual needs. Palm Psychotherapy will then use the information so they can support you in the best way possible.

If you attend an appointment and once the initial assessment is completed, your therapist will keep your personal information. This will be securely stored in a locked filing cabinet (within a locked room) and/or on a secure network password protected.

The therapist is responsible for the security of your sensitive personal information and abides by strict codes of ethics in relation to its security and confidentiality. Your therapist has received specialist Data Protection Training (GDPR) and understands their responsibilities in relation to this.

Your therapist may need to request further information from your GP or from another medical professional. This is only done in exceptional circumstances and wherever possible following a discussion with you.

In rare instances, it may be necessary for your therapist to share the information that you have disclosed to them with further individuals or organisations. Reasons for doing this include, but are not limited to:

• part of their duty to protect a child, a vulnerable adult, yourself or the public

• for the prevention and detection of a crime

• if they are required to do so by a court of law

Therapists may also use some of the information you provide them for other reasons, such as to:

• To maintain their records

• In the investigation of any complaints made against them

• To meet their statutory obligations

• To ensure the accuracy of their records

 

If you have concerns about how your personal data has been handled, please contact me in the first instance so that I can investigate the matter. I have a Data Protection Complaints Procedure available on request. If you remain dissatisfied, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
